Vaccine Against Canine Cancer

Did you know cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs, accounting for approximately 30% of all deaths? And certain breeds have much higher likelihoods of cancer than others? But what if there was something we could do?

The Vaccination Against Canine Cancer Study (VACCS trial) will be the largest clinical trial conducted to date for canine cancer. The goal of the VACCS trial is to evaluate a new vaccine strategy for the prevention, rather than treatment of dogs with cancer.

Together we raised $1135 to donate to the VACCS trial!

At this year’s Awards Banquet, club membership voted to donate the proceeds from the raffle and live auction to the VACCS trial. The club would make a match up to $300. Thanks to our membership we raised over $1000 for canine cancer research! You guys rock!

Were you unable to attend the Awards Banquet and would like to make your own donation? Please click Donate below to contribute to the VACCS Trial. The inventor of the vaccine is a professor at Arizona State University, so this is the “headquarters” of the multi-site study. Anything donated on this site will go directly to the Vaccine Against Canine Cancer Study and benefit dogs at all the study sites (CSU, UC-Davis, and UW-Madison).
